Ummmm yeah. That's what I spent a good amount of time yesterday doing. TLC. (Thin Layer Chromatography) That's what it is called. It is also used in biology, just to note. We could not get a high yield at all. So we decided to use TLC to track the reaction to see if the reactant spots would disappear. Yesterday we got nothing.
Today on the other hand we finally got what looks like a high yield, but with possible side products. So tomorrow we will see what it all looks like and see if we have found a method to get a high yield. Maybe we can move on soon! Cross my fingers that we can!
